Richy was not only the absolute best boss I ever had but I also considered him a friend. He taught me everything I know about the industry and he has been truly missed since his retirement. Since Richy told me of his illness it has been difficult to come to grips with. Afterall Richy was literally larger than life. I am greatful that I was fortunate enough to get to know and work with Richy and I am a better person having known him. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. I will miss you buddy.

I had the pleasure of knowing Richie for a lot of years as a competitor in the grass seed business, but i thought of him more as a friend. Later he worked at Loft Seed when Pennington Seed acquired the company. I am proud to say that he was my trusted friend during that time. I remember him as someone that knew his business better than anyone else, and was liked and trusted by everyone in the seed business. He was one of those people that always shot straight with those he dealt with, and earned the respect of those he worked with. It was an honor to know and work with Richie, and more than anything, to count him as my friend. Ronnie Stapp

Richie was my first boss at my first real job. In 1988 he took a green kid out of college and eventually turned him into a seedsman. I owe a great deal to Rich. I don't think I would be where I am today without his guidance. I will miss him.

We remember going to Whiskey Creek Grill and Richard sitting there watching Nascar. We usually discussed the different drivers and how they where doing. He always seemed to have a smile and he will be greatly missed. Our sympathy are with the family and also our prayers.

To Joan Margaret - Rich loved you more than he showed or you will ever know; to his children - your father's whole life revolved around you. I rarely saw Rich once he left Fanwood, and those few times we talked in the past five years were by telephone, everything he said was about you, for you, because of you. My deepest sympathy goes out to you all.

I met him at Applebees, He would go in to eat, drink and chat with Eddie. He taught Eddie how to care for our grass, LOL.... He shared storied of his family for years... Until one day we figured out that he was related to my daughter... We thought that was too funny... He came over a few times to visit, he always offered rides on his motorcycle... He was alot of fun to be around!!! He talked about moving to Florida alot, It was sad to see him leave but nice to see him happy to go down to be closer with his daughter, Kimberly and her family... He will be missed....
