Richard E. Klispie, 89, of Punta Gorda, Florida, passed away peacefully Monday, June 30, 2014 in Punta Gorda.
Richard was born April 20, 1925 in Hamburg, New York to the late Caroline J. and Albert N. Klispie. Richard met his wife Margaret T. (nee-Skitka) while staying in Punta Gorda. Working in Miami with FP&L Richard and Margaret transferred to Sarasota for a time before returning with their family to Punta Gorda in 1963. Richard began a number of small local businesses over the years, but is perhaps best remembered for his real-estate activities in the community as owner and real-estate broker of Charlotte Harbor Real Estate Company which he managed until his retirement. He is a former member of the B.P.O. Elks Lodges in Punta Gorda and Deep Creek.
Richard is survived by his beloved family, sons, Alan R. (Cindy) Klispie of Deep Creek, Gary S. (Gail) Klispie of Worland, WY, and Dennis E. (Judy) Klispie of Plant City, FL; six grandchildren, Jeanette (Christopher) Mack, Benjamin Klispie, Amber Rose (Juan) Uribe, Amanda (Seth) Roseberry, Mathew Crichton, and Katelyn Klispie; five great grandchildren, Casey, Patrick, Nikolas, Christina, and Joseph; and numerous extended family members. In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by a brother, Albert N. Klispie, Jr., a sister, June Griffin, and in February of 2013, his beloved wife of 61 years, Margaret.
A Funeral service will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Roberson Funeral Home Punta Gorda Chapel. Committal and entombment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Port Charlotte.
Memorial donations in Richard’s memory are suggested in lieu of flowers to Tidewell Hospice.
