RICHARD ALEXANDER MUIR, 68, of Punta Gorda passed away Saturday, September 8, 2007 at Charlotte Regional Medical Center, Punta Gorda.
He was born November 6, 1938 in Cleveland, Ohio to Scottish-born Father,
Alexander Muir and Lucille Geis Muir. Rich graduated from East High School in
Cleveland in 1958 and married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Ann McKnight on
August 8, 1959. He was a former member and Past Master of Tyrian F&AM Lodge #370 of Cleveland where he was raised Master Mason on March 14, 1962. He was a member of Meridian Lodge #610 of Parma, OH, the Lodge Council Chapter of Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Cleveland and the Deep Creek Elks Club of Port Charlotte, FL
Rich loved baseball and played as a switch-hitting catcher, managed numerous
baseball and softball teams and umpired games in Parma, Ohio. He also worked as
a League Director for the Brook Park Recreation Center Mens Softball & Boys
Little League. Rich was a former Cub Scout and Boy Scout Leader in Brook Park and
was a member of the Brook Park Jaycees. He retired after 40 years of service with the
General Motors Chevrolet Plant in Parma and retired to Punta Gorda with his wife Barb
7 years ago.
He is survived by his loving family, his wife, Barbara Ann Muir of Punta Gorda;
a daughter, Deborah L. (husband-Dave) McDaniel of North Ridgeville, OH; two sons, Jeffrey (wife-Natalie) R. Muir of Medina, OH and David (wife-Cheryl) A. Muir of
Columbus, OH; a step-brother, William Muir of Polk, PA; and five wonderful grandchildren, Kelly McDaniel, Kevin McDaniel, Kyle Muir, Corbyn Muir and Allison Muir.
Private memorial services for family and friends will be held in Punta Gorda.
Memorial services and inurnment will be held at a later date in Sunset Memorial Park,
Olmstead, OH.
