Robert (Bob) DiDonno, ‘Dino’ (68) passed away peacefully at his home in Punta Gorda, FL. on Sunday, March 24, 2019 after a long illness.
Bob was born in New Britain CT, and attended school there. After graduating, he worked as a Construction Project Manager and resided in Berlin, CT before retiring to Punta Gorda, FL. Bob loved life. His easy going personality and gentle spirit made him loved by everyone who knew him. He loved spending time on the water and was an avid fisherman, Yankees and die hard Giants fan who passed on his love of football to his daughter, Elaine, and her children. Whenever Bob was around, there was joy, laughter and music. He loved composing music, singing and playing the guitar. Even in the midst of his own illness, he cared for both of his ailing parents with daily visits and phone calls. He organized/chaired many annual Navy Reunions for his Dad and fellow shipmates who served on the WWII USS Wilkes-Barre CL-103. After moving to Florida, he and his beloved wife, Pat, treasured their time enjoying the sun with their two dogs, Breesha and Teya. Bob will be truly missed by all who knew him, there is a little less music in the world today because of his passing, but we take comfort in the fact that Bob has finally found his “place in the sun.”
He is survived by his wife Patricia of 25 years, his daughter Elaine, husband Jay and sons Timothy, Shaun & Ryan McCarthy, seven grandchildren, three sisters and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
In lieu of services, and to honor Bob, we ask donations be made to the American Heart Association 300 5th Avenue, Suite 6 Waltham, MA 02451.
Arrangements are by Roberson Funeral Home & Crematory Port Charlotte Chapel.
