Robert J. Cushing, 93, of Largo, Florida and formerly of Port Charlotte, FL passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at his home in Largo, FL.
Robert was born to George and Lillian Cushing on August 16, 1921 in Pontiac, IL. He was a WWII veteran who served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church for many years before moving to Largo, FL. Robert was the owner of the Cushing Agency in Illinois which dealt in insurance, real estate and securities. He was past president of Western Illinois University Newman Club, as well as a member of Elks, Lions Club, American Legion, Knights of Columbus and the Real Estate Association all in Illinois. Robert enjoyed life to the fullest with his family and friends and will forever be missed by all who loved and knew him.
Survivors include his loving wife of 75 years, Lorraine; his son, Robert J. Cushing, Jr. of Reno, NV; his daughter, Barbara E. Kelly of Auburn, IL; 7 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving daughter, Mary Fran Coultas.
A Memorial Mass will be held 9:30AM, Friday, July 31, 2015 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Largo, FL. Visitation will be held 1:00PM-2:00PM, Friday, July 31, 2015 at Roberson Funeral Home Port Charlotte Chapel. Graveside Service with Military Honors and Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Port Charlotte, FL.
