Robert LeRoy “Bob” Lakins, of Punta Gorda, Florida, passed away on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at the age of 78.
Born on July 22, 1946, in Tazewell, Tennessee, Bob lived a life marked by dedication to his family, service to his country, and success in his professional endeavors. Bob proudly served in the United States Army 9TH Infantry Division during the Vietnam War. His time in the military reflected his deep sense of duty and commitment—qualities that would continue to define him throughout his life. Following his military service, Bob built a successful career as a General Sales Manager and later became the owner of several RV dealerships. His entrepreneurial spirit and leadership left a lasting mark on those he worked with and served through his businesses.
Bob was a devoted husband to Kathleen (Toole) Lakins and a loving father to Kristine (Michael) Streza, David Lakins, and Justin (Maria) Lakins. He took great pride in his role as a grandfather to Samantha Streza, Della Lakins, and Declan Lakins. His family was the center of his world, and he cherished every moment spent with them. He is also remembered by his sisters Joyce Pace and Dorothy Coker. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Bessie (Shelton) Lakins and Roy Lakins; his siblings Jackie Mulinex, Glenda Paciorek, Gary Lakins, and Rhonda Lakins.
In addition to his professional accomplishments and family devotion, Bob found joy on the golf course. Golfing was one of his favorite pastimes—a way for him to relax and enjoy time with friends. A man of integrity and warmth, Bob touched many lives with his kindness and generosity. He was deeply loved by all who knew him and will be missed greatly by his family and friends.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at 10:00am at the Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Rd 72, Sarasota, FL 34241. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
