ROBERT L. TURNER, 99, of St. Petersburg, Florida and formerly of Port
Charlotte, Florida died Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at St. Petersburg General
Hospital.
He as born August 19, 1907 in Fort Madison, Iowa and graduated from Fort Madison High School in 1925. He moved to Port Charlotte in 1972 from Streator, Illinois and then to St. Petersburg in 1992. Robert a retired mechanical supervisor for the Sante Fe Railroad for 47 years. He was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church of Port Charlotte, Charlotte County Elks Lodge No. 2153, and the Port Charlotte Yacht Club. He was a 40 year member of Streator Lodge No. 607 A.F. & A.M.
He is survived by a daughter, Judith A. McGrath of St. Petersburg; a son,
Lt. Cmdr. Richard W. Turner, USN, retired of Cherry Hill, NJ; a sister, Margaret Blott of Davenport, Iowa; 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Virginia, who died in 2004.
Funeral services will held Friday 11:00 AM, February 23, 2007 at Restlawn Chapel. Rev. Bob Carlson and Punta Gorda Lodge No. 115 F. & A.M. will officiate. Entombment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Port Charlotte.
