Ronald E. Host, 78, of Punta Gorda, Florida passed away peacefully at Tidewell Hospice House in Port Charlotte, Florida on Saturday evening, July 5, 2014.

Ronald was born October 5, 1935 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and graduated from William Penn High School. Ron enjoyed a long career with AAA Central Penn Auto Club in Harrisburg and moved to Punta Gorda with his wife in 1998. He loved his retirement years, golfing and fishing, but most of all time spent with all his wonderful friends.

Ron was the loving husband of Beverly A. Host for 50 wonderful years, and was father to Jeff Host of Lancaster, PA, Lisa Patrick of Hayesville, NC, and Mike Petrucci and wife Kelly of Charlotte, NC; he is also survived by 2 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild, a half-brother Gene Sharp and wife Jean, and a half-sister, Diane.

A celebration of Ron’s life will be held at a later date in Punta Gorda, Florida.

In remembrance of Ron, contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Tidewell Hospice House of Port Charlotte, Florida, care of Tidewell Hospice Inc., or to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Arrangements are by Roberson Funeral Homes & Crematory, Punta Gorda Chapel.

Very sorry to learn of Ron's passing. I graduated high school with him. We drove together, with other William Penn friends to see President Eisenhour's swearing in as president of the United States in my 1936 Chevrolet. We played many card games with him and others at my home when I lived in Harrisburg, Pa. A great guy, although I did not have any contact with him for many years. He will be missed.
