Rose Marie Bartman Yienger, 84, of Port Charlotte, Florida, formerly of Roundtop, New York, passed away Monday, September 3, 2012.
Rose was born on May 11, 1928 in Coalgate, Oklahoma to the late Luther and Thelma Myers. Rose who graduated from the State University of New York in New Paltz with a Masters Degree in Education in 1955, moved from New York to Port Charlotte in 1985 following her retirement as a teacher for more than 30 years with the Cairo-Durham Elementary School in Cairo, New York. After moving to Port Charlotte, she joined the Port Charlotte United Methodist Church, and became active in the PCUM Church’s 3 M’s, Esther Circle and Ladies Guild. Rose loved to dance and could be found dancing with her husband Donald at the Senior Center in Venice or the Port Charlotte Cultural Center.
She is survived by her husband, Donald L. Yienger of Port Charlotte; sons, Jerrold W. (Michael-Ann) Bartman of Cobleskill, NY, and James J. (Patricia) Bartman of Clarksville, TN, and four grandchildren, Johanna Marie, Judith Anne, Joshua Anthony, and Jeffrey Michael; two sisters, twin, Ruth Hitchcock of Hyde Park, NY, and Donna Shipp of Port Charlotte, FL; brother David Myers of Ashville, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Rose was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother, a son Jeffrey, a grandson James J. Jr., and her first husband of 57 years, James A. Bartman.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, September 6, 2012 at Port Charlotte United Methodist Church. Rev. Brian James, Pastor, will officiate. A private committal will be held in New York at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the PCUM Church 3 M’s Scholarship Fund.
