Rose Mary Summa, 95, of Punta Gorda, Florida, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 12, 2016, at Harbour Health Center in Port Charlotte, FL.

Rose was born September 9, 1920, in Italy, to the late Daniel and Grace (nee – La Morte) Grieco. She emigrated to the U.S. as a young child, living in Nesquehoning, Pennsylvania, till she married Anthony Francis Summa and moved to Staten Island, New York where she raised two daughters with her husband, and worked as a Registered Nurse at U.S. Public Health Service Hospital for 40 years. She later moved to Hastings-On-Hudson in New York, then in 2003 to Punta Gorda, Florida, and was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Port Charlotte, FL.

She is survived by her daughters, Genevieve (Bruce) Barran of Punta Gorda, and Mary (Richard) Harte of Boca Roton, FL; grandchildren, Michelle, Christopher and Daniel Barran, and Jessica Harte; and great grandchildren, Victoria, Genevieve, Anthony and Lily Barran. In addition to her parents, Rose was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary and Josephine, and in 1981 her husband of 35 years, Anthony.

Services will be held this Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Roberson Funeral Homes’ Punta Gorda Chapel at 215 Mary Street. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to start of Prayer service at 2:00 p.m. Committal services and burial will be held 12:00 noon on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Staten Island, New York.
