Roslyn was a graduate of the Springfield Hospital School of Nursing in Massachusetts. She earned her RN degree in 1949 and worked at the hospital for several years on the Right 1. She later worked at the Heritage Hall Nursing in Agawam, MA, as a charge nurse and as Director of Nursing. Ra loved the staff there and she and her husband, Robert, went on many trips with them.
Roslyn and Bob were married Nov. 18, 1950, and were school friends since grade school. Roslyn and Bob were devoted to each other and he will miss her deeply. Together they raised four boys in Massachusetts. Roslyn loved to be part of their lives and was very proud of them. She was a Cub Scout den mother, and cheered her sons on at little League baseball, football, and youth hockey games.
Roslyn loved to travel and she and Bob spent many happy weekends boating on Lake George in New York State. She was an accomplished organ player, and shared her life with many beloved miniature Schnauzers over the years. In 1990, Ra and Bob moved to Port Charlotte, FL, where they enjoyed the beautiful weather and the company of many new neighbors and friends.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Robert J. Nooney; sons, Stephen and wife Marianne of Westfield, MA, Donald and wife Debbie of Southwick, MA, Bradford and wife Norma Jean of Springfield, MA and William and wife Teresa of Panama City, FL, will miss her very much. They have all loved and been a big part of her life. Roslyn is also survived by eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Tidewell Hospice, Philanthropy Dept., In care of Port Charlotte.
A Memorial service will be held 9:00 a.m. Friday, February 28, 2014 at Christ Community United Methodist Church in Harbour Heights, with internment to follow at Sarasota National. Father Chad Lynch will lead services.
Arrangements are by Roberson Funeral Home & Crematory, Port Charlotte Chapel.
