Roy Leo Demongey, 87, of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at his home in Port Charlotte.
Roy was born December 23, 1923 in Saginaw, Michigan and moved to Port Charlotte 31 years ago from St. Charles, MI. He was a U.S. Army AirCorp veteran who served during WWII. He was the past president of Rural Letter Carriers Association for many years in St. Charles, MI. Roy was a man who cherished life to the fullest. He loved to fish and simply enjoys the simple life. He was a good father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend and will be missed dearly by all who loved and knew him.
Survivors include his 2 sons, Gary Roy Demongey of Highland, MI and Dennis Paul Demongey of St. Charles, MI, a daughter, Janis R. Russ of Twin Lake, MI; 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Helen (Pumford) Demongey.
A Memorial Service will be held 7:00PM, Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Roberson Funeral Home Port Charlotte Chapel. Inurnment will be held privately by the family at Sarasota National Cemetery in Sarasota, FL.
