Ruth Louise Dawson, 90, of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away Friday, April 5, 2013.
She was born on January 23, 1923 in Norfolk, Virginia, the daughter of Clarence & Bertie (nee Thompson) Jones. She was the wife of the late, William Graham Dawson.
Mrs. Dawson graduated from Maury High School. She studied Art at Old Dominion University. She also studied painting with Bertha Fanning Taylor at the Norfolk Museum of Arts & Sciences (now Chrysler Museum). She became an accomplished painter and was an exhibitor at the Virginia Beach Boardwalk Art Show. She was a realtor for many years with the firm Henry-Hanson-Tucker in Norfolk. She & her husband retired to Florida in 1980. A highlight event in her life was a trip to the Holy Land with Bible study leader, Eleanor Page.
Mrs. Dawson is survived by a son, William Graham Dawson, Jr., of N. Fort Myers, FL; a sister, Marian Noe of Richmond, VA, and three brothers, Joseph Jones & Robert Jones, both of Florida and Charles Jones of Suffolk, VA.
Graveside services and interment will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Norfolk, VA on Friday, April 12, 2013 at 2:00 PM. Friends may visit online at
