She was born Ruth A. Hetzel, in Hoboken on February 26, 1937. Ruth, a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, moved from her native Hoboken to Port Charlotte in 1991 with her husband Jimmie, and attended St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Port Charlotte.
She leaves behind her beloved husband of 55 years, Jimmie L. Tompkins; son, Jeff Tompkins of Port Charlotte; sister, Catherine DePalma; 3 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by a sister, two brothers, and a daughter and son, Jennifer and James.
Arrangements are by Roberson Funeral Homes, Port Charlotte Chapel.
