Santa Teresa DeFazio, 90, of Port Charlotte, Florida peacefully passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2013 In Port Charlotte.
She was born November 2, 1922 in Italy and emigrated to the US from Platania Catanzano, Calabria, Italy in 1951. She raised her family in Norwalk, CT while working for Norden United Technology, a space technology company, as a short circuit welder and assembler in space craft gyro construction. Santa and her husband Peter wintered in Port Charlotte for many years and became full time residence in 2001. She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Norwalk and a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Port Charlotte. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, and Nonna She will be missed, but not forgotten.
Survived by her loving family, her son, Anthony(Elaine) DeFazio of Ansonia, CT; a daughter, Maria (Ross) Cambareri of Port Charlotte; her sisters, Ida (Tony) Cimino and Rosina Esposito both of Norwalk; two brothers, John & Victorio Maruca of Australia; sister-in-law, Rita (Bert) Maruca of Norwalk, CT; her grandchildren, Sandra (Bill) Ritter, Deanna (John) Wieber II, Toni (Clay) Roberson, Perry (Julie) DeFazio, and Carina DeFazio and husband Jeremy Cole; Great Grandchildren, Joanna & Billy Ritter, Toni Lynn & Johnny Wieber III, Hannah, Hayden, Halayna Roberson, Nathan, Olivia & Sarah DeFazio, Elena Cole; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents Angelo and Marianna Maruca, a brother, Bert Maruca, and her husband, Peter DeFazio who passed in 2004.
Visitation will be held Friday, September 6, 2013 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Roberson Funeral Home Port Charlotte Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM Friday, September 6, 2013 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Port Charlotte. Entombment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Port Charlotte.Friends may visit online at www.robersonfh.com to sign the guest book and extend condolences to the family.
