Sergio Garcia 92 passed away peacefully at his home in Port Charlotte, Florida on Sunday, December 19th 2022 surrounded by his family. Sergio was born in Yauco, Puerto Rico on May 10, 1930 to Ramona Negron and Julio Garcia.
Sergio married the love of his life, Nery Figueroa on July 21, 1957. They went on to have three daughters, Arlene, Vivian and Jeanette. Sergio worked for the garment district for George Hatab & Company from 1952 to 1989. Sergio designed ladies’ lingerie, wedding dresses, nun’s habits and numerous dresses of all sorts of outfits for his wife, all of his daughters, grand-daughters and great granddaughters, nieces and friends. In 1989, Sergio retired from George Hatab & Company. Sergio and Nery moved to Port Charlotte, Florida to spend their golden years. Sergio and Nery went on many cruises and traveled to different place. He especially enjoyed going to Indiana to visit their daughters and family. Sergio lived and enjoyed life to the fullest. His famous phrase “I can only give you advice, but I cannot force you to take it.” He was very knowledgeable and a great teacher of many things. He had great patience and a heart of gold. Sergio spent his time making prayer blankets for the sick, enjoyed music, words search, playing the lottery, gardening, playing Puerto Rican dominoes & Mexican dominoes. Sergio especially loved going on Facebook and on FaceTime with family and friends. Sergio was preceded in death by his 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Nery; his daughters Arlene (Julio), Vivian (David) and Jeanette (Melvin); grandsons Christopher, Michael (Stephanie), Roy, William (Melody), Luca (Carina), ArJay (Connie); granddaughters Michelle (Coty), Jasmine and several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Sergio will be sincerely missed by all who loved and knew him.
