It's taken me a year to collect my thoughts on this. You never really think about how hard it is to lose someone who you've always taken for granted would just be there forever. She was there all the time, at every holiday and when she wasn't physically there, she was just minutes away. It just seemed like wherever I was, she was there too. When a person is such an integral part of your life, they become like an arm or some fingers and you don't realize they're even there until they aren't. You never realize how hard every day will be without them because you can't even imagine never having them. This is how life was with my grandmother. There are countless memories of her. Sometimes I feel bad because I can't even recall them all. She was there for all of my biggest achievements, and it's hard to come to terms with the fact that I still have so many which I will have to enjoy without her. Good things and bad things came and went, but she was always a there still. I expected it to become easier with time, but it never really did. I miss her so much. I know she's in a better place and for that I am thankful. I'm happy for all she taught me and the endless amounts of love and joy she shared with me. I will always cherish swinging in her back yard, or making cookies in the kitchen with her. I'll never forget how scared she was when we hid in the closet during the hurricane or the fun we had living together afterwards while our house was being rebuilt. I remember having a birthday parties there and gardening with her. I hated picking the weeds, but I loved being with her. She loved working in the yard so much. I will hold these memories and photos close until the day we get to see each other again.

I only met Mrs. Hunt once but I know her son very well. Judging by his character, compassion for others and his love of Christ, his Mom raised him well. I know he loved her very much and he is heart broken with her loss. I only pray that he will find comfort in knowing that she is with the Lord and that he will be with her again someday. I also pray that he will lean on those around him who love him and gain strength and encouragement from us.

I was her shadow, she was my Aunt and Friend. She took me to see all the interesting places: the cows, the calves, the pigs, the tractor shed, the hens, and let me pull a carrot from the garden to wash and eat for a special treat. The family circle is filling fast in heaven.
