Shirley Shay Milk, 88, of Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away Sunday,
February 20, 2011. Shirley was born April 12, 1922 in Jersey City, NJ.
A retired high school math teacher, Shirley moved from Albany, NY to
Port Charlotte in December 1979. She was a communicant at St.Charles Borromeo Church and was a member of the Lector Society for many years. Shirley also volunteered for Charlotte County in the
Family Literacy Program and was a member of two book clubs at the PortCharlotte Library. She was an avid Bridge player who also loved theater and travel.
Shirley is survived by her husband George Milk, four children:
sons Joseph Shay (Linda) or Lake Mary, FL, Paul Shay (Monica) of New York, NY, daughters Marilyn Magnus of Short Hills, NJ and Barbara
Sigsbury (Randy) of Santa Clarita, CA, ten grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one sister, Marian Huntington of Woburn, MA.
a step-son, Duane (Sandy) Milk of Wesley Chapel, FL.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.on Thursday, February 24, 2011 at Roberson Funeral Home Port Charlotte Chapel. a mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday,February 25,2011 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Port Charlotte.
