Mrs. Stella R. Newcomb, 72, of Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away Monday October 19, 2009 at Charlotte Regional Medical Center in Punta Gorda, Florida.
Born Stella Rager to the late Richard H. and Pauline Frazer Rager on February 24, 1937 in Jeffersonville, Indiana, Stella moved to Fort Myers, Florida in 1970 from her native South Indiana prior to relocating to Port Charlotte in 1990. During her time in Charlotte County, she founded and formerly operated S.A.T. Answering Service, which with Stella’s guidance, provided services and invaluable support for the Office of Emergency Management of Charlotte County. More recently, she founded and operated S.A.T In Home Healthcare. A hardworking area business woman, Stella will be greatly missed by the community she so loved, her friends, and beloved family.
She is survived by her children, daughters Richaline Caroll Sandlin and Sandra Frazer, both of Port Charlotte, and son David L. West, of Napoli, Italy; two sisters, Mary Miller of Highpoint, NC and Dana Rowe of Thomasville, NC; 7 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews. Stella was preceded in death by a son, Joseph P. West, and grandchildren Jodi Lynn West, Evan Daniel West, and Hope Dawn Sandlin.
