THOMAS W. LYON, 91, of Port Charlotte, Florida died Saturday, June 9, 2012 at home.

He was born March 11, 1921 in Mechanicsville, Maryland and moved to Port Charlotte in 1982 from Adelphi, Maryland. Thomas was retired from Eastman Kodak Company and a veteran of World War II, U.S. Coast Guard. He was a member of the Deep Creek Golf Club. He was an avid golfer, having an astonishing “six hole in one’s” during his playing days. He was also a member of the Antique Car Club of America and was especially proud of his immaculate 1957 Chevy Belair. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Survived by his loving family, two daughters Cathy (Ed) Dovel of Port Charlotte and Linda (Don) Anders of Olympia, WA; a son, Bruce (Cathy) Lyon of Port Charlotte; 7 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley, who passed away in 1998.

Visitation will be held 10:00 – 11:00 AM Thursday, June 14, 2012 at Roberson Funeral Home, Port Charlotte Chapel. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, June 14, 2012 at Roberson Funeral Home, Port Charlotte Chapel. Military Honors and interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Port Charlotte.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tidewell Hospice, Inc. 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238.

We were grateful Janice contacted us to let us know about Uncle Tom's passing. Uncle Tom will always be remembered for his pleasing personality and easy going nature, his ready smile, and what good company he was! On the 4th of July some of us will be getting together and you can be sure it will be a time when we will share our memories of him with one another. Please know that you continue to be in our thoughts and have our sympathy for your loss. I hope for the time when your grief is replaced with your many fond rememberances. I had the pleasure of helping Tom at his home. I really enjoyed getting to know him and his family, Tom was such a nice man he will be missed!

Remembering Tom allowing me to drive him in his beautiful '57 Chevrolet to Veteran Motor Car Club events and after the car was parked safely back in the garage we would sit on his lanai and have a cold drink and just talk. I miss those days and will miss Tom even more! Lee Royston
