Truman G. “Jerry” Harmon, 84, of Port Charlotte, FL passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2014 in Port Charlotte.
Born September 6, 1929 in Carroll County, Kentucky, Jerry was raised in New Marion, Indiana graduating from New Marion High before entering military service with the U.S. Army and serving overseas. Afterward, Jerry worked 30 years for General Motors Corporation in GM’s Indianapolis, IN Plant, retiring as a Supervisor before relocating with his wife Ruth J. (nee – Hass) Harmon whom he married in July of 1950, to Port Charlotte, where they have lived since 1984. He was a 50+ year Gold member of the Masonic Order, member of the Scottish Rite, and member of First Christian Church Punta Gorda.
He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 64 years, Ruth H. Harmon, and nephew, Jerry (Kay) Neace of Madison, IN. In addition to his late parents, Bacil G. and Eula M. Harmon, Jerry was preceded in death by a sister, Marjorie Hackett.
Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. thru start of Funeral services at 10:00 A.M. this Tuesday, April 22, at Roberson Funeral Homes Punta Gorda Chapel. Masonic Lodge No. 115 F&AM of Punta Gorda and officiate Brother Dwight Elam of First Christian Church Punta Gorda will conduct ceremonies. Burial will be held in Indianapolis, Indiana.
