William “Bill” C. Landstrom, 86, formerly of Newfield, New York, died peacefully in his sleep after a courageous battle with lung cancer, on Sunday, September 25, 2016, at his residence in Punta Gorda, Florida.
Bill was born September 6, 1930 in Caldwell, New Jersey. Longtime residents of Newfield, Bill and his wife Shirley raised five daughters together while running Landstrom Gravel Co. Inc., which they founded in 1956 in Newfield, and operated together for 50 years. Bill and Shirley began wintering in Punta Gorda 20 years ago.
He is survived by his five daughters, Caren (Peter Darsie) Landstrom, Linda Landstrom, Wendy Landstrom Rentschler, Erica (Gerard Fess) Landstrom, and Phyllis Landstrom; six grandchildren, and a great grandson; a brother, Ivar (Jane) Landstrom, and family, and loving companion Lois Wolfe and family. Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 49 years Shirley L. Landstrom in 2001.
A Memorial service celebrating Bill’s life will be held at a later date to be announced by the Landstrom family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Bill’s name are suggested to a charity of one’s choice.
