Born June 18, 1923 in Bristol, Tennessee, Bill, an Air Force veteran of three wars, retired from a long Military Career in 1968. Since then, Bill who moved to Port Charlotte from Fort Worth, Texas in 1999 before settling in Punta Gorda has been a life member of The Retired Officers Association, and active member of the Burnt Store Presbyterian Church and B.P.O. Elks Lodge No. 2606, both in Punta Gorda, and the Charlotte Harbor Yacht Club in Charlotte Harbor, Florida.
He is survived by his loving wife Gloria; a son, Gary and wife Marcee Brown of The Colony, TX; a grandson, Chris Brown; and sister, Marie King of Bristol, TN.
Arrangements are by Roberson Funeral Home Punta Gorda Chapel.

Bill was one of the finest gentleman we knew. When I married his stepson, he welcomed me into the family with open arms and for a brief time we were a family in Texas. He was kind, caring, and loving. He was always willing to help whether it was cutting tree limbs or taking care of our cat. No was not in his vocabulary. We were happy he found love and happiness in Florida. Gloria, you are in our thoughts and prayers.

I moved in next door to Bill in April 2003 and was his neighbor until he, and then I, moved in 2008. My spouse died in 2006 as did his wife Lou. I value having known Bill and sharing life experiences. Dolores and I had the pleasure of meeting Gloria and breaking bread with her and Bill at the Charlotte Yacht Club. We both know the trauma of losing a spouse and extend our deepest sympathy to Gloria and Bill's family.
