William Edwin Hastings, 80, of North Port, Florida passed away Monday, April 29, 2019 at Bayfront Health Center.
William was born January 9, 1939 in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Avery and Sybil Hastings. He retired with a distinguished 20 year career in the U.S. Navy as a non commissioned officer, flight engineer and a veteran of the Vietnam War serving from 1956 – 1976. Bill and his wife Marianne Moved from Culdesac, Idaho to North Port, Florida 10 years ago after retiring from Omark Industries. Bill was an avid fisherman and spending a lot of his retirement on the coast of Washington, Canada and Alaska on the pride of his life his boat “The Shaker” chasing that catch of a lifetime. Among many other things Bill and Marianne were entrepreneurs inventing “The Trollmaster” that aids Fishermen all over the world in their quest for perfection in trolling for salmon. Bill was loved and respected by all who knew him; he was giving, caring and loving, the rock of the family, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
He is survived by his loving family, Marianne Hastings his wife of 43 years, three daughters, Kathleen A. Gentile., Connie L. Hastings and Jennifer Kueter; three sons, William D. Hastings., David A. Hastings and Eric Hastings; a sister, Kaye L. Hastings; 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
A private memorial celebration will be held on Saturday June 1, 2019 in Lake Tahoe NV by the family.
