Zakia was born January 20, 1915 in Hakour-Akkar, Lebanon and moved to Port Charlotte in 1989 from Cleveland, OH. She was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Port Charlotte. She was a nurse since she was 18 years old working in Palestine and Lebanon. Zakia was a Registered Nurse and Midwife and later worked for countless years at Richmond Heights General Hospital in Richmond Heights, OH. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend and will be missed dearly by all who loved her.
Survivors include her daughter, Rima Riggs of Port Charlotte; a son, Raymond Jeries of North Port, FL; 2 sisters, Hanna Mathews and Monira Gutas both of Lebanon; 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Naif K. Jeries.
Visitation will be held 12:00PM-1:00PM, Monday, June 13, 2011 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 24411 Rampart Blvd. Port Charlotte, FL 33980. Funeral Mass will follow at 1:00PM, Monday, June 13, 2011 at the church. Entombment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens Port Charlotte, FL.
