Wilburn (Bill) A. Allen, of Port Charlotte Florida, passed away at age 85, in the presence of his loving wife, Phyllis on Saturday, December 10, 2022.
Born in War Creek Kentucky, to Arthur and Polly Allen. He was one of eight children. His family moved to Wixom Michigan during the Great Depression. There he met, fell in love, and married Phyllis Allen in 1958. She would be the love of his life for 62 years of marriage. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1960 to 1966. While in Michigan he became the youngest store manager in the A&P grocery chain. In 1973 he gave up store management to pursue a better life for his family in Florida. This would involve working his way up from manual construction labor to business owner to Real Estate professional.
Bill was a husband, father, grandfather (aka “Papa”), brother, and uncle. He lived a life that exemplified an authentic love and commitment to God. Nothing was more important to him in this life than the well-being of his family, his grandchildren being the treasures of his life. His love of laughter and ability to find humor in almost every situation added richness to the stability he provided to his loved ones. Committed, centered, strong and quick to be generous; he will be sorely missed. His legacy will live on in his family and in those who knew him until we are reunited in heaven.
Bill is survived by his wife Phyllis, son Guy, daughter-in-law Darcie, grandchildren Tyler, Lauren, and Conner, and sister Arbutus, in addition to a host of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
