Ann Meyer Atwood, 84, of Port Charlotte, Florida died Saturday, June 29, 2024 at Fawcett Memorial Hospital in Port Charlotte.
Ann was born November 30, 1939 in St. Peter, Minnesota to the late Paul and Palma Meyer. In her youth, Ann worked at her father’s business, Paul Meyer Implement, learning business skills. Ann graduated from Le Sueur High School and Minnesota School of Business. After completing her education, Ann was hired by Frederick Atwood, founder of Atwood Land Company, in the position of secretary and office manager. She worked for her family-owned business her entire career. Ann and her husband, Charles Atwood, enjoyed 40 happy years together. In 1981, they moved to Port Charlotte, Florida from Mankato, Minnesota. They enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and toured 7 continents. They spent summers sailing on Lake Superior and built a log home in Bayfield, Wisconsin. They were long time members with leadership roles at Charlotte Harbor Yacht Club and enjoyed boating with friends and family. They were very devoted parents and grandparents.
Ann is survived by her loving family: Her two step daughters, Peggy Atwood (Jon) Hellerstein of Charlotte, NC and Linda Atwood of Minneapolis, MN; 10 grandchildren, Peter, Theresa, Michael, and Benjamin Graif, Matthew, Andrew, Bryan, and Michael Atwood, and Jessica Hellerstein and Julie Hellerstein Smigel; 19 great grandchildren; Her brother, Jim Meyer, niece, Kirsten Meyer Huber, nephew, Shawn Meyer, 5 great nieces and nephews, and one great-great nephew; Her sister in law Elizabeth Atwood Forsberg. Ann was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles Atwood, stepson, Thomas Atwood, and sister-in-law, Joy Meyer.
A private memorial service will be held in Mankato, Minnesota. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
