Rachel Alma Amick, a source of love, compassion, and unwavering strength, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones, on August 31, 2025, at the age of 83, after a courageous battle with numerous health issues.
She was born in York, Pennsylvania, and grew up in Sarasota, Florida. Rachel graduated from Sarasota High School in 1961, where she was also a proud member of the Sarasota Sailor Circus.
In 1976, Rachel became a cherished resident of Charlotte County, Florida, where she devoted herself to her family, friends, and community. She was first and foremost a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, as well as a loyal friend to many.
Rachel’s talents were many. She was an amazing homemaker and cook, and she loved to sew—fond memories remain of the many clothing items she made for her family, affectionately known as “Mama Hem Pants.” She also enjoyed roller skating in her younger years and playing games such as Train, Poker, and Mahjong with family and friends.
Rachel was a guiding light not only to her family but also to countless others in her community. She built long-lasting friendships in both business and personal life and gave selflessly of her time to many organizations. One of her proudest achievements was being elected president of the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA).
Known for her generosity, Rachel was always the first to arrive when someone needed help and the last to leave. She lived a life of service—often sacrificing her own needs so others could have more. She was also a dedicated member of her church, where her faith guided her giving spirit.
Rachel’s life was a testament to love, resilience, and community service. She will be remembered as an amazing woman who was always on the go and who touched the lives of everyone she met. Her absence will be felt tremendously. Rachel is survived by her two daughters, Debbie Lynn and Paula Ann, and her two sons, Joseph Anthony and Robert Andrew Amick.
Funeral services will be held at Roberson Funeral Home, located at 2151 Tamiami Trail, Port Charlotte, FL 33948 On Saturday, September 13, 2025. A Celebration of Life will follow at Church of the Nazarene located at 19150 Helena Avenue, Port Charlotte, FL 33948.
