John Peter Bennett, 69, of Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2025, surrounded by his loving wife and family.
John was born Wednesday July 25, 1956, in Rockville Centre, New York to the late Dorothy and William Bennett.
John earned his Registered Nursing degree in New York before moving to Port Charlotte, Florida, where he dedicated more than 30 years to compassionate service as a Registered Nurse. It was there that he met the love of his life, Tammy, while both were working at Fawcett Memorial Hospital. Tammy and John shared over 20 wonderful years together, filled with love, laughter, and adventure. John had a passion for life and found joy in fishing, traveling, scuba diving, snorkeling, dining out, attending the theater and concerts, and listening to music. Above all, he adored his family, especially his grandchildren, who brought him immense happiness
John was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He is survived by his wife, Tammy (Jansen) Bennett; his children, James Bennett (Jessica), Daniel Bennett, and Tyler Faircloth (Darian); and his cherished grandchildren, Ethan and Aiden Bennett, Little Tyler Faircloth , Brookelyn and AJ Vivinetti, and Hudson Faircloth. He is also survived by his siblings, Lillian Santos, Michael Bennett, Mary Muggeo (Robert), Dorothy Ervin (George) and Edward Bennett. Fondly missed by In-Law’s Henry and Betty Jansen, sister and brother in law’s, nieces and nephews all from Canada. John was preceded in death by his brother William Bennett.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the physicians and staff at Florida Cancer Specialists of Port Charlotte and North Port, for the tremendous care, compassion, and support they provided to John throughout his journey.
