Connie McGrain, 73, of Port Charlotte, Florida died Wednesday, August 12, 2026 at HCA Fawcett Memorial Hospital in Port Charlotte.
She was born to Fred and Elizabeth (Speidel) Quinter in Philadelphia, PA. Her single parent mother died when Connie was 12 and her aunt Marian assumed parental responsibility for Connie and her brother, Chuck who was 14 at the time. Connie attended The Charles E. Ellis School for Girls in Newtown Square, PA and after graduation in 1970 she went on to attend I.T. School which led to her career in I.T. at Colonial Penn in Philadelphia. She worked there for many years and continued her career as the Company changed ownership and left many friends there when she retired and moved to Florida. Connie was an avid reader who enjoyed doing puzzles and even played the piano as a young girl. She loved keeping in touch with everyone through Facebook. Her fascination with Genealogy kept her reaching out for ever more information on her family members. Connie was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, niece and friend and will forever be missed by all who loved and knew her.
Survivors include her loving husband of 45 years, Jack; her son, Mike; sister-in-law, Jeanne Stephens of Pennsylvania and her extended family and her BFF Jean Getty of Ridley, PA and family. She was predeceased by her parents; her aunt, Miriam Speidel; her brother Chuck and his wife, Sandy.
She is interred in Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Port Charlotte, Florida in the shadows of a very large oak tree.
