JACK L. CONWAY, 86, of Port Charlotte, Florida died Monday, November 12, 2007 at his residence.
He was born April 13, 1921 in Emporium, Pennsylvania and attended Pennsylvania State University and was a mechanical engineer at Sylvania Electric Products, Inc. before Volunteering for the Army in 1944. He was a combat veteran of World War II, U.S. Army and served in the 10th Mountain Division. Following the war Jack returned to Sylvania Electric Products. He from GTE World Headquarters of Stamford, Connecticut as Corporate Director of Employee Safety. Jack and his wife, Louise moved to Port Charlotte in 1981 from Fairfield, CT.
He was an active member of the Port Charlotte United Methodist Church and member of Methodist Men’s Club and served in many leadership positions over the years. Member of Emporium Lodge No.382 F&AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Coudersport,
PA, National Association of the 10th Mountain Division, U.S. Army, life member of the
Disabled American Veterans Chapter 82, American Legion Post #110 both of Port Charlotte, a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #6221 of Emporium,
Cameron County Veterans Club of Emporium, and Military Order of the Purple Heart.
He is survived by his loving family, his wife of 60 years, Louise S. Conway
of Port Charlotte; a daughter, April (Louis) Zitnay of Rochester, MN; two sons,
Clay Conway of Port Charlotte and Brent Conway of Atlanta, GA; a sister, Ruth
Olivett of Emporium, PA; and 2 grandchildren.
