Edythe M. “Edgett” Melanson, 83, of Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away Wednesday, February 29, 2012 in Port Charlotte, Florida.
Born July 20, 1928 in Somerville, Massachusetts, to the late Margaret (nee – Meuse) and Frederick Goehring, Edythe, a retired Ceramics teacher and Ceramics Store owner, moved to Port Charlotte from Tewksbury, Massachusetts in 1995. In addition to spending time with her husband and children, Edythe enjoyed attending activities with the Sewing Circle at Port Charlotte Cultural Center and the Peace River Sail & Power Squadron’s Game Day Girls.
She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Edward J. Melanson; five children, sons Bob, Frederick and Mark Edgett, and daughters Sheri Baron and Rayna St Clair; four grandchildren, and one great grandson. In addition to her parents, Edythe was preceded in death by a brother, Frederick Goehring, and her first husband, Robert W. Edgett.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 Pm Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Roberson Funeral Homes, Port Charlotte Chapel. Further services and interment will be held in Massachusetts.
