Mr. Brendan M. Loughran, 70, of Punta Gorda, Florida, formerly of Dracut, Massachusetts, passed away Friday, January 7, 2011 in Punta Gorda.
Born December 7, 1940 in Lowell, Massachusetts to the late James and Mona Loughran, Brendan, a 29 year veteran of the Dracut Police Department, retired to Punta Gorda from Dracut in 2000 to pursue his favorite pastimes, biking, boating and reading. He was a member of the Massachusetts Police Association, the International Brotherhood of Police Officers, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 2121 of Port Charlotte, and the Knights of Columbus, St. Maximilian Kolbe C.C. Council 11483.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 16 years, Joyce A. Loughran, sons Brian P. Loughran, Brendan M. (Panee) Loughran Jr., Shawn J. (Rene) Loughran, and Corey R. Loughran; step-children Thomas J. (Iris) Kempton, Scott M. (Joy) Kempton, Cheryl A. (Robert) Nickerson, and Robin M. (Roger) Fournier; 19 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; a sister, Judith (John) Berger, brothers, James F. (Ann) Loughran and Richard Loughran, and several nieces and nephews.
