Richard P. Bonner,79, of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away Sunday, July 11, 2010 at
his home.
He was born November 9, 1930 in Yonkers, NY and moved to Port Charlotte in 2000 from Arkansas. SMSGT Richard P. Bonner retired from the United States Air Force after 27 years, retired from the Pulaski County Arkansas Sheriff’s Office, and served as the Volunteer Fire Chief in Gravel Ridge, Arkansas for 13 years. He also served as a Past Commander of American Legion Post 64 in Heber Springs, Arkansas and was a member of V.F.W. Post 3543.
Locally he was a member and on the Executive Board of American Legion Post 110 of Port Charlotte, Past Chef de Gare and member of the Forty and Eight Voiture 1526, member of
V.F.W Post 5690 of Port Charlotte, and was a 4th Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus.
Member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church of Port Charlotte. Richard was a veteran of the Korean War and the Viet Nam War.
He is survived by his children, Paula Snyder of Chelsea, AL, Richard Paul Bonner of
Punta Gorda, FL, Theresa Cherry of Port Charlotte, Donald Bonner of Rosebud, Arkansas and
Ronald Bonner of Little Rock, Arkansas; two brothers, Dewey and Gene Bonner of New York;
6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
