Rich was born in Pomeroy, Ohio to Charles R. (Dick) and Leona Karr on August 4, 1926 and attended Pomeroy High School prior to enlisting in the Navy during World War II. He was a former Deputy Sheriff of Meigs County Ohio, A former member of the Meigs Jaycees, a member of the American Legion and served on the Middleport Volunteer Fire Department for many years and was an Assistant Boy’s Scout Leader. He worked in the mining business in Kentucky and in construction after moving to Florida. He retired from the Cleary Company of Cape Coral. He resided in Bonita Springs for 17 years prior to moving to Port Charlotte 13 years ago. Rich will be missed by all who loved and knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mildred Teaford Karr; 2 sons, Rodney (Kathryn) Karr of Austin, TX and Jeffrey (Linda) Karr of Port Charlotte; a sister, Polly Matthews of Port Charlotte; 4 grandchildren, J.J. Karr, Rory Karr, Celeste Karr and Alyssa Karr and 3 great-grandchildren, Devin, Corrinne and Lilly Karr. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Pat Bauer.
