Alice Frances Harris, 92 of Punta Gorda, FL passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2015.
Alice was born August 14, 1923 in Madison, FL to the late William and Isabell Henderson. Alice was postmaster at the original Murdock Post Office in Murdock, Fl for 24 years prior to her retirement. She had so many customers that would drive out of their way to come to her because they got that special customer service. She loved helping everyone with their packages and mail. Alice was a NARFE member and a member of the Florida Chapter of National Association of Postmasters. Alice was also an ABWA member and a member of Eastside Baptist Church. She also was a volunteer at East Elementary. Alice was always the caregiver for her family and the matriarch. She found it really hard to become the person that had to be taken care of.
Alice is survived by daughters Mary Frances McGee, Merline Hathcoat (friend Charlie Burgese), Carolyn Graves (friend Perry Sisson), Carrie Klum (husband David Klum), Margaret Kristina Freeman (husband Dewayne Freeman), brother James Roland Henderson, eleven grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Alice was preceded in death by her husband Clifton Harris, her son Clifton D. Harris, her parents William and Isabell Henderson, her brother William (Clarence) Henderson, and great great-grandaughter Kinsey Whidden.
The family will receive friends from 1:00pm till 2:00pm with funeral to be held at 2pm Saturday October 3, 2015 at Roberson’s Funeral Home, 215 Mary St. in Punta Gorda. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens’ cemetery in Port Charlotte, FL. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Tidewell Hospice, Port Charlotte or Eastside Baptist Church, Punta Gorda.
