Kenneth Gatchell Blossom, Jr., 82, of Punta Gorda, Florida died on March 18, 2016 at Bayfront Health in Port Charlotte.
Born in South Paris, Maine, he was retired from The United Illuminating Company in Connecticut. After his wife Claire retired, they moved to Whiting, Vermont where they operated Carousel Farm Bed & Breakfast. In 2004 they moved permanently to Punta Gorda. Ken was a member of Masonic Corinthian Lodge No. 63, North Haven, Connecticut, Independence Lodge No. 10, Orwell, Vermont, and Cairo Shriners of Rutland, Vermont. He also served for a time as Justice of the Peace in Whiting. A skilled sailor, he was also an avid builder of model airplanes and boats.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Marcia (George) Duenkel of North Branford, Connecticut, Teresa Bryant of New Haven, Connecticut, stepdaughters Alice (Joseph) Peckelis of Port Washington, New York, Diane (Jeffrey) Levine of Merrick, New York, seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, three step grandchildren, and four step great-grandchildren. His parents, Kenneth G. and Bernice S., brothers Lawrence and Robert, sister Margaret Koenig, grandsons Christopher Tacuone and Zachary Blossom predeceased him.
Memorial services will be held at a later date in Connecticut.
