Tadeo “Ted” Sotomayor, 75, of Port Charlotte, Florida passed from this life into peace with our Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Tidewell Hospice in Port Charlotte, surrounded by his loving family.
Ted was born July 15, 1941 in Santurce, Puerto Rico to the late Tadeo Satomayor and Santiaga Soto. He moved to Port Charlotte in 1985 from Brooklyn, New York. He was a member of St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council #11483. If you knew Ted, chances are you were able to share a laugh with him at one point or another. He loved being around people and spending time enjoying life.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Elizabeth Díaz Sotomayor; 5 daughters, Nereida Sotomayor Rodríguez of Ellenton, FL, Michele Sotomayor of Port Charlotte, Danielle Sotomayor of New York, NY, Vanessa Sotomayor of St. Petersburg, FL and Ariana Sotomayor of Port Charlotte; and a grandson, Emanuel Tadeo Sotomayor.
A Memorial Mass celebrating Ted’s life will be held Saturday 11:00 AM, December 10, 2016 at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church, 1441 Spear St., Port Charlotte, FL 33948. A reception will follow at the church. Memorial contributions in Ted’s name may be made to the Knights of Columbus Council #11483 c/o of St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church.
