I first met Ann in January 1981, when I enrolled in the Commercial Foods program at the Vo-Tech. I instantly feel in love with her and her energy. Ann was the kind of person that you felt you knew for years, as soon as you met her. I learned so much from Ann and she was the driving force that made me become a culinary teacher. To Ann’s family, I send my deepest sympathy.

I hope someone in her family reads this. I often thought of Mrs. Stout over the years and today I was sitting at my desk and thought I would do a google search on her to see if I could find her... I am sad to know she passed away. I was a student of hers in 1992 and 1993 at the Port Charlotte Culinary Arts School. I have such fond memories of her. I remember her laugh like I heard it yesterday and her beautiful smile. She was so patient with all the students. I remember talking to her about her daughter who passed away and how much that hurt her. I remember her sharing with me her album when she sang. She taught me how to cook and clean and I was very successful in the Culinary Arts profession in large part to her. I want whoever to read this to know she made a huge difference in my life and I am sure many others. I would love to e-mail her family if someone can tell me how to reach them via e-mail. Ann was so special to me. When I was at CTC, she was the person who came to my office and offered her help with ever project. Whether it was a snack before an advisory meeting or a professionally prepared three-course dinner for the Council on Occupational Education event, Ann led the way. She gave all the credit to her students.
Not only did she run the Tech Center’s Culinary Arts and Commercial Foods Department, she was a mentor to many students. She offered them professional advice in the food industry, job-hunting skills, and techniques to improve their personal presentation. In many ways, she was a mother to them.
