Glenn Arthur Stewart, 65, of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away Monday, December 8, 2025 in Port Charlotte.
He was born on February 20, 1960, to Kenneth A. Stewart, Sr and Ivy Ellina Wilson Stewart in Queens, New York. He went on to P.S. 132 in Laurelton, NY for Elementary school and then to I.S. 59 for Junior High School. Glenn went on to Jamaica High School, Jamaica Queens, where he ran track in the ninth grade and was in the band orchestra throughout high school. He graduated in 1978 and from there went on to Long Island University, Brooklyn Campus. He majored in Psychology and earned his bachelor’s degree in 1982.
He earned his master’s degree in 1984 from Long Island University in Industrial Psychology. Always the lifetime learner, Glenn went on to earn a second master’s degree from Long Island University in School Psychology in 1989. When Glenn graduated from Long Island University in 1982, he worked for New York City Housing Preservation and Development (HPD). Then in 1984, Glenn began his calling in education by teaching Math at Junior High School 296 in Bushwick, Brooklyn where he taught until 1987. In 1987, Glenn taught at P.S. 274 in Brooklyn. Glenn left the classroom and became a School Psychologist. He was a s a licensed bilingual School Psychologist being fluent in Spanish.
Glenn pursued a new challenge and became an Administrator in many school districts. From 1999 – 2003 he served in South Country Central School District. As he was working, Glenn finished his SDA Professional Diploma from Stony Brook University in 2002. In 2003-2007, Glenn served as Assistant to the Director of Special Education in Central Islip Union Free School District and in 2007-2009, he was the Director of Special Education and Pupil Services in Central Islip.
Glenn then became the Special Education Department Coordinator for the Garden City Union Free School District from 2009-2011. He finished his educational career in Long Island, New York at Freeport Public Schools as the Assistant Director of Pupil Personnel Services from 2012-2023 and then retired to Florida. But anyone who knows Glenn knew that he would not stay retired. He began teaching math at Murdock Middle School in August 2024 until his passing.
A Visitation will be held 5:00Pm-7:00PM, Thursday, December 18, 2025 at Roberson Funeral Home Port Charlotte Chapel. A Funeral Service will be held 10:00AM, Friday, December 19, 2025 at St. James Episcopal Church in Port Charlotte. Entombment will follow to Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Port Charlotte, FL.
Glenn will greatly be missed by his family, friends and loved ones. Glenn made an impact in his life, and his impact will continue throughout all the lives he touched.
