Our dear son, Nicholas Frank Johnson, was born to us, Joseph and Brenda Wiebe Johnson, on July 25, 2007, in Colima, Colima, Mexico. He was tragically taken from us in an accident on January 10, 2026, at the age of eighteen.
Nicholas spent his first three years in Colima, where his blonde hair and blue eyes made him a favorite. He was loved by the people there, and they have held a special place in his heart ever since. He returned with his family to Faunsdale, Alabama, where he received his formal education at Faunsdale Christian School. At the age of thirteen, he gave his heart to God and was baptized into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, on April 25, 2021, by his father, Minister Joseph Johnson.
Nicholas lived life to the fullest. He loved us, and his teasing ways and sparkling eyes made for many good family times. Little children were dear to him, and he spent hours entertaining them much to their delight. He enjoyed horses and working with cattle. When he was in eighth grade, Tim Wenger offered him a job on his farm. Nicholas loved the variety of farm work and put his whole heart into everything he did. He learned many skills while working for Tim and held him in high regard for his patience and understanding.
In June of 2023, Nicholas moved with his family to Arcadia, Florida. There, he joined the youth group and made many good friends, including those in the Fort Myers unit. His carefree nature and boundless energy endeared him to many and astounded others. One Sunday, to illustrate a Sunday School lesson on compassion for the less fortunate, Nicholas and a youth friend dressed as homeless and sat by the corner close to church holding a sign that read, “Anything helps.” Rabbit hunting in the orange groves and spending time with friends were among his chiefest delights.
In the fall of 2024, Nicholas went to Eakly, Oklahoma, where he lived with his uncle Karlyn’s and enjoyed farming and working with cattle. In the spring of 2025, he returned to Faunsdale to live with his uncle Jud’s and thoroughly enjoyed working with his cousins at JM Concrete. He loved anything with wheels, especially bikes, and his daring nature often led to frequent accidents. His Aunt Misty had many opportunities to tend to his injuries.
After his eighteenth birthday, Nicholas moved to DeRidder, Louisiana, to be with Kyler, a friend since childhood. They worked together for Levi Koehn, farming and drilling water wells. Nicholas greatly enjoyed sharing stories of his escapades with family and friends.
While living there, Nicholas was involved in the accident that took his life. His untimely death has left us with broken hearts, and we can’t imagine living life without him. We commit him to our Heavenly Father, who knows all things.
Left with aching hearts are his parents, Joseph and Brenda Johnson of Arcadia, Florida; his sisters, Courtney and Grant Koehn of Paxton, Nebraska; Savannah of Arcadia, Florida; Rebecca and Jevan Wenger of Hesston, Kansas; and his brother, Elliott of Arcadia, Florida. He is also survived by his grandfathers, Frank Johnson of Faunsdale, Alabama, and Richard Wiebe of Durham, Kansas, along with many uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends. Nicholas was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Judith Johnson, Dollena Wiebe, and Charlotte Wiebe, as well as an uncle and a cousin.
Our family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for the many prayers and acts of kindness shown to us during this difficult time.
