RICHARD “RICK” L. GOODWIN, 29, of Port Charlotte, Florida who was born April 17, 1986 and raised in Hammond, Indiana, died unexpectedly Friday, May 15, 2015 in a boating accident in Charlotte Harbor along with his Uncle, Harold Goodwin, also originally from Hammond/ Highland, Indiana.
Rick graduated from Morton High School in Hammond in 2004. He continued his education for Auto Tech Training and in 2013, at the age of 27, he achieved his goal of becoming an ASE Certified Master Technician. Rick was currently employed by MacKinnon Equipment Services at their Fort Myers office. Being a full time resident of Port Charlotte since 2007, Rick had met many people here and made friends with most all he met. He loved to fish which, in the end helped end his life.
Rick is survived by his loving family, his Father and Mother, Richard and Sherry Goodwin, a Brother, Sean Goodwin all of Port Charlotte; Maternal Grandfather, Leon Sebolt of Crete, IL; Uncle, Alan Sebolt of Crete, IL; Aunt, Stephanie Sebolt Novak, Uncle, Edwin Novak of Michigan Shore, IN, Aunt, Roberta Goodwin of Port Charlotte; Cousin, Harold (Julie) Goodwin of Highland, IN. He was preceded in death his Maternal Grandmother, Joan Sebolt, Maternal Grandparents, Harold L. Goodwin and Elizabeth Bounds Goodwin and by his loving Uncle Harold Goodwin of Port Charlotte. He was a kind and loving son and brother who will be forever missed. Rick was kind hearted, considerate, respectful and helpful to all.
A Celebration of Life Service for Rick will be held Thursday 12 Noon, May 21, 2015 at Roberson Funeral Home Port Charlotte Chapel. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 AM Thursday until service time.
