WILLIAM H. (BUCK) BUCKLEY, JR., 84, of Punta Gorda, Florida died Thursday, December 7, 2006 at Tidewell Hospice and Palliative Care, Port Charlotte.
He was born September 28, 1922 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and moved to
Florida in 1978 from Sewell, New Jersey. He moved to Port Charlotte 5 years ago from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Buck was a retired carpenter and a veteran of World II and
the Korean War, U.S. Marines. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star and Five
Purple Hearts. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, a
charter member and past commander of V.F.W. Post 7679 of Mantua, NJ and was
a member. Post 5690 of Port Charlotte. He was a life member of the
American Legion and a member of Post #110 of Port Charlotte.
Survived by his loving family, his wife of 35 years. Bette L. Buckley of Punta Gorda; three sons, Don (Kay) Gasgarth of Port Charlotte, Gary Gasgarth of New York, NY and William H. (Jody) Buckley, III of Woodbury, NJ; a sister, Jerry Deveruax
of St. Petersburg, FL; 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
