Adeline Leonard Seakwood, 102, of Punta Gorda, Florida passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2025, with her daughter, Nanette Leonard, by her side, along with close friends Virginia Mclewin, Christine Kist and Gabriele Childs.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Adeline lived much of her life in New York City until her marriage in 1980 to the love of her life, U.S. Marine Corps Maj. Herbert J. Seakwood. A trailblazer in the television and film industries, Adeline had a distinguished career as a production office coordinator. She worked on numerous iconic ’60s TV shows, including “The Patty Duke Show,” “The Trials of O’Brien,” “Matlock,” “The Defenders” and many more. Her impressive feature film credits include “Three Days of the Condor,” “Ragtime,” “Superman,” “Starting Over,” “Godspell,” “Annie,” “Trading Places,” “The Secret of My Success,” “The Boys in the Band,” “Death Wish” and countless others. Over the years, she had the privilege of working alongside industry legends such as Robert Redford, Christopher Reeve, Michael J. Fox, Farrah Fawcett, Peter Falk, E.G. Marshall, Robert Reed and Paul Newman, to name a few. In addition to her production work, Adeline taught a class at the New School in New York City, passing her vast knowledge and passion for the industry to the next generation. When she celebrated her 100th birthday, Robert Redford graciously signed a photo from their time together on the set of “Three Days of the Condor,” sending her warm birthday wishes. Adeline began her professional journey as a John Robert Powers model before venturing into acting, with roles in TV shows and films such as Alfred Hitchcock’s “North by Northwest” starring Cary Grant. However, her true legacy was behind the camera, where she spent the majority of her career.

A co-founder of her union Local 161/IATSE, Adeline played an instrumental role in elevating the position of “production secretary,” leading a successful campaign to change the title to “production office coordinator” — now known as “production coordinator” in credits across film and television. In 2008, she was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award from her union, a testament to her immense contributions to the industry. Today, Local 161 remains a union of script supervisors, production accountants, payroll accountants and production coordinators who work across films and television (both narrative and documentary), and commercials. Adeline and Herb relocated to Punta Gorda, Florida over 30 years ago, where they became deeply involved in their community. Adeline served as the Sunshine Lady for the Punta Gorda Isles Civic Association (PGICA) for three decades — a title she truly embodied, welcoming new residents to PGI and brightening the lives of all who knew her. She also volunteered for more than 25 years with the Isles Girls & Guys — a nonprofit organization under the PGICA that organized estate sales — as a greeter. She was known for her warmth, kindness and her signature hugs, which were always a highlight of the volunteers’ interactions with their loyal customers. Adeline LOVED to dance and could always be seen bustin’ a move at local block parties and rockin’ to the music of The BoogieMen every month at Harpoon Harrys.

Adeline is survived by her daughter, Nanette Leonard, The Nilsens, Janine, Morgan, Gunnar, Corissa, Carsten, and Ronen , Ian, Natalie, and Troy Leishman.

A celebration of her remarkable life will be held 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the Punta Gorda Isles Civic Association located at 2001 Shreve Street in Punta Gorda.
