Albert Paul Lyons, 81, of Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 9, 2026, in Port Charlotte.
Born on a Sunday on November 26, 1944, in Boston, Massachusetts, to the late Martin P. and Laura Lyons, Albert, following his high school graduation, soon enlisted in the U.S. Army, and served his country honorably.
Following his return, Albert who was known by his family and friends as a kind and generous man, went on to enjoy a long career in Real Estate as a broker, while helping to raise a loving family. His interests included traveling, and as an animal and nature lover, spending time outdoors. In his spare time, he was something of an avid collector.
He is survived by his loving partner of 40 plus years, Gretchen Austin, of Port Charlotte. A daughter, Susan Hoffses of Enfield, CT, and her son, Dylan Fulton of Mohave, AZ, and Dylan’s children Damean & Elizabeth Fulton; his and Gretchen’s daughters’, Rena Adan of Pembroke Pines, FL, and Rena’s children Nicholas & Ashley Adan; daughter Rebecca Runnels-Hill of Slidell, LA, and Rebecca’s children Benjamin & Alexander Runnels, Elizabeth Austin of Port Charlotte, FL, and Ronald Keyes, Jr; and daughter Rhonda Hutchison’s son, Steven Kennedy, and grandson, Dravin Kennedy. In addition to his parents, Albert was preceded in death by his siblings, Wilma A. Lyons, Catherine L. Lyons, and Martin P. Lyons, Jr., and his and Gretchen’s daughter, Rhonda Hutchison.
A committal service with military honors provided by the U.S. Army and burial to follow, will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 25, 2026, at Sarasota National Cemetery in Sarasota, Florida.
