ALISTAIR STEWART COUPER, 81, of Port Charlotte, Florida died Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at his home.
He was born May 15, 1931 in Scotland to the late James Stewart and Margaret D. Couper and immigrated to the United States. He moved to Port Charlotte with his wife Maria in 1997 from Wheaton, Illinois. Mr. Couper was employed as a chemical engineer for Amoco Research Center, Naperville, Illinois for 38 years before his retirement.
He is survived by his loving family, his wife of 53 years, Maria Redona Couper of Port Charlotte(formerly from Leyte, Philippines); two daughters, Christine (David) Hansen of Minneapolis, MN and Benita (D’Arcy Jereme) Rahming of Nassau, Bahamas; a son, Douglas Stewart (Deborah) Couper of Laguna Nigel, CA; a daughter-in-law, Susan Couper Ehmann of Dublin, OH; ten grandchildren, Joshua Stewart Couper, Caitlin Delee Couper, D’Arcy Jereme Rahming, Jr., Erika Marie Rahming, Olivia Joey Hansen, Megan Delee Couper, Cynthia Dale Rahming, Joseph Lane Hansen, Grant Stewart Couper and Scott Stewart Couper. A son, Charles Stewart Couper, preceded him in death.
A Memorial Mass will be held Monday 1:30 PM, August 6, 2012 at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church, Port Charlotte.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 4075 Tamiami Trail, Port Charlotte, FL 33952 or the Nationwide Children’s Hospital, in memory of Dr. Charles S. Couper, 700 Children’s Drive, Columbus, OH 43205.
