Alma P. Tinnnirella 85, of Punta Gorda, Florida passed peacefully December 4, 2023, at Tidewell Hospice House in Port Charlotte.
Alma was born on January 21, 1938 in San Pedro, Belize. She came to the US in 1962 where she became a citizen under the sponsorship of the editor of the Hollywood Sun Tattler, Mr. McCall, Alma was the Circulation Office Manager/ Bookkeeper at the Hollywood Sun Tattler from 1962-1985 until it was sold. Alma then worked at Kemper Insurance Company where she and the staff worked on compensation cases for all 50 states until she retired in 2003.
Alma met the love of her life, Alfonso Tinnirella in 1973. They lived in Fort Lauderdale Florida until 2003 where upon retiring moved to their beautiful home in Punta Gorda.
Alma was a passionate, loving woman who loved the simple things in life. Her favorite place was home, especially in the kitchen. She would always be whipping up something yummy, like peanut butter cookies for Todo to have with his tea, or banana bread to bring to the nurses at the VA to say thank you. She started her day before 6am by going for a walk around the neighborhood and upon returning she would stroll around the yard and tend to her flowers and her prized mango and avocado trees. She would say, “You have to talk to them, that’s how they grow”. When she wasn’t tending to the garden, she was riding Her John Deere cutting the grass, she never allowed Al to ride it!
Alma also loved to crochet, Anything! From little hats for removing lids from hot pots to placemats, aphgans, scarves, hats & shawls. However, she especially loved making baby blankets as gifts. Her work was beautiful, and anyone lucky enough to have one of her pieces was truly special to her.
Alma is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Alfonso Tinnirella and her sister, Elvia Staines of Belize.
