Alonzo was born September 4, 1938 in New York, New York and moved to Punta Gorda in 1993 from Pleasantville, NY. Alonzo was a Veteran serving in the US Army. He was a History Teacher at the Rye Middle School and High School in Rye, NY. Alonzo ran marathons all over the country for most of his life. He loved sports especially basketball and softball. He was a New York Yankees fan and was proud of it. He was an avid lover of libraries, classic movies, 1940’s music, adventures in the outdoors, camping, 1930’s radio shows and loved to travel around the world. He was a great man and will be missed by all who loved and knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 39 1/2 years, Maria T. Hackshaw; a daughter, Tirsa Hackshaw of Los Angeles, CA, a brother, Hamlet Hackshaw of Westchester County, NY; a cousin, Rafael Tarquini of Punta Gorda, FL; a niece, Lisa Henry of Los Angeles, CA and several other nieces and nephews.
