Alva A. Burnett, 91, of Port Charlotte, died Sunday, November 14, 2021 at Tidewell Hospice House in Port Charlotte, FL.

Alva was born June 1, 1930 in Jamaica, West indies to the late Niemeier and Christiana (Cunningham) Findlay.  Alva worked in Food service for Amsterdam Nursing Home in Manhattan, NY from 1976 to 1992 before retiring. He moved to Port Charlotte in 1992.

Survived by his loving family, his wife of 35 years, Evadne Baldie Burnett of Port Charlotte; two daughters, Marva Burnett-Lodge of Uniondale, NY and Marcia Burnett-Phillips of New York, NY; two Step-daughters, Audrey Campbell of Virginia and Michelle Baldie of Clearwater, FL; a son Presley Burnett of Massachusetts; two step-sons, Norman(Tony) Myers of New York and Mark Myers of Cape Coral, FL.; three sisters, Louise Gordon of New York, Joy Finley and Doreen Finley both from Jamaica; three brothers, Edward Clarke of Miami, FL, Purcell Clarke of Miami, FL & David Clarke also of Miami, FL,; six grandchildren, Omar, Aisha, David Jr., Gregory, Lateisha, & Presley Jr.,; 5 great grandchildren, Nasir, Adonis, Valiska, Kayden, & Braylen,; One great, great grandchild, Noah.

Funeral services will be held Friday 11:00 AM, December 3, 2021 at Roberson Funeral Home Chapel, 2151 Tamiami Trail, Port Charlotte, FL 33948. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to service time. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Port Charlotte, FL.
