Mr. Anthony J. (Tony) Caruso, 74, of Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away Sunday, July 19, 2009 at the TideWell Hospice & Palliative Care House of Port Charlotte.
Tony was born November 6, 1934 in New York City’s Manhattan borough. A veteran of the Korean War, U.S. Navy, and retired bricklayer, Tony moved to Port Charlotte in 2007 from Ronkonkoma on Long Island, New York. He was a member of the Bricklayers Union Local 1 in Long Island City, New York, and the B.P.O. Elks Lodge 2606 in Punta Gorda, Florida.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Federica A. Caruso; two daughters, Dawn (husband Ted) Sullivan, and Linda (husband Tom) Tecca, and two sons, Anthony (wife Johana) Caruso and Michael (significant other Samantha) Caruso; five grandchildren, Aidan, Jonathan, Michael, Lauren and David; and cousins Freddy (wife Marilyn) Butera, Bobbie (wife Irma) Pipitone, and Valerie (husband Charles) Sardina. Tony was preceded in death by his parents Anthony and Caroline Caruso, and a sister, Bernice.
